Makes me wonder what percentage of these stats represent the gay market. Last year, our agency was talking to a team of iPhone app developers. They told us that while they focus mostly on general market, they did produce a few gay apps. Downloads of the gay apps were off the charts compared to general market apps. Also, gay consumers were significantly more likely to pay for the premium version of the app over the free (basic) version when compared to general market. The conclusion of these developers was (and I quote), "Gay men and iPhones are redundant."
For clarification, I should have asked, how do gay consumers index on usage of mobile technology vs. general market? Understand that these stats above are mobile ad spending.
