Today I am one more step closer to being able to get married. My parents are one step closer to having a son with the same rights as their daughter. Our gay friends and neighbors are one step closer to having the same rights our straight friends and neighbors have to obtain government-issued marriage license. And as always, churches are still free to perform or deny religious marriage to anybody they want. Equal legal and civil rights should make everybody happy. And for those who find happiness in keeping others from enjoying them, it's only a matter of time. This is the United States of America, where we believe that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. And I'll fight till my death to see the day when that belief will be reality for all American citizens.
Amen. That is what this nation is about! And why we know equality is on our side, and not up for a vote.
