The offices of Equality Texas were vandalized over the weekend sometime around 3 a.m. on Sunday. The large front plate glass window was broken out. Neighbors were awakened around 3 a.m. Sunday morning by the sound of breaking glass and saw one teen male running away from the building.
Repair costs and additional security will run around $1,200.
unfortunately, i'd say this very much fits the definition of a "hate crime" - albeit, thankfully, a non-violent one.

perhaps "non-violent" was not the perfect word there. for it looks violent, indeed. so, scraping the cliche barrel, i'll rephrase: at least no one was hurt.
i do take comfort in my belief that these acts are increasingly perpetrated by smaller and smaller splinter groups whose reaction to the fact that many on the right - including michael steele, national chairman of the republican party - have said, with varying explicitness, that the "gay issue" is a foregone conclusion, and they have to move on. not that it makes local delinquency like this any easier to stomach, but it does feel like the sophomoric death throes of a group of bigots whose own bigoted party has abandoned them.
I agree with previous comment. While these are very sad, they fortunately seem to be less frequent (despite the earlier blog about the billboard). Nonetheless, they show there is still a ways to go in the fight.
