Obama Picks Kegan for Supreme Court

As previously speculated on BrandFabulousness, President Obama has selected Solicitor General Elena Kagan as the Supreme Court nominee to replace the retiring John Paul Stevens. Last month, when Kagan emerged as a leading candidate for the Supreme Court, CBS News posted an article to one of its blogs claiming Kagan is gay. That post was later deleted when the White House criticized the network for making “false charges” about Kagan. I'll be watching closely to see if Kegan's sexual orientation comes up again. It may come up when she'll inevitably be grilled on her opposition to "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" during her tenure as Dean of Harvard Law School. Harvard was one of many schools, including Syracuse University, that joined together to challenge The Solomon Amendment in court and lost. Kagan's full remarks on the issue can be found here.
