Breaking Story: Gay Dating Site Ad May Run in the Super Bowl

CBS is considering airing a commercial for a gay men's dating site, ManCrunch.com, during the Super Bowl. The 30-second spot shows two men excitedly watching the game, before their hands brush as they both reach into a bowl of chips. Suddenly, the two begin making out, much to the shock of a guy sitting close by. A childish concept that seems completely unoriginal to me. But surely it will be a shocker to those outside the LGBT community who are watching (and to many of us in the community for that matter).

Quite frankly, I don't know what credible brand or agency would spend $2.5 million on a Super Bowl ad with such amateur production values. Take a look for yourself:

More on the potential Super Bowl shocker can be found here.

1/29/09 Update: CBS just rejected the ad.
